Secrets of Mosfilm of the Millenium BorderMy work at Mosfilm dates back to the Millenium spell. Back in the 90s I translated a poetic excerpt from a celebrated Russian chansonier Vyacheslav Dobrynin. His songs sounded in each window and in each garage and yard. *** Oh the lake the sorcerer. It's not far in groves. Walk its streams and sources swift where my heart roves. You cannot escape its spells, you will keep at sight All its rays and vapor sweet, its magnetic light. (English poetic translation from Vyach.Dobrynin, by Anna Polibina-Polansky.) In 2003-04 I happened to co-work with him in person, on Mosfilm, under the guidance of film director Symon Ryabikov. There I translated another excerpt from Dobrynin: Oh casino, do work and do shine, All of music, of songs and of wine. Variete is ornating such spots. Clash, two destinies, two sweet lots! This filmmaker (Mr Ryabikov) lead me to other briggt composers, Doga and Krylatov, whose songs I also happened to translate in equity-rhythmic verses. I vividly remember filming up in 2003, all mises-en-scene and episodes, co-working with D.Mulyar, V.S.Lanovoy, A E.Livanov, Ye.Steklov, V.Avilov. I was co-scriprwriter, literary editor and feature translator for our project of Yessenin "The Golden Head on the Block". We planned our anotger project, for Paris and Milan: of the Russian tenor of the 19th century - NickOla IvAnov (Glinka's disciple), to whom there is a stone memorial in Northern Italy. Nickolay Baskov was chosen and pitched, for our basic character there. But Ryabikov soon unfortunately passed away. I filmed up two-part documentary of Symon Ryabikov. Ryabikov got me encounter Cyril Emilyevich Razlogov, the brightest Russian film cryticist I have met. He estimated my tonality and screen genres, invited me to Berlinnale and Belye Stolby, two film festivals highly symbolic fir myself. By the year of our primary screening in the House of Cinematographist nearby the Belorousskaya Subway Station in Moscow, in 2004, I had been author for screen plots of Dickinson and of Russian literary estates, with my own thematic luggage at cinema.
