Films for Future-The annual industry event: DokFilmWerkstatt Monschau/Germany
This three-day documentary film event taking place October 9-11 held at the Aukloster Civic Hall and at the Monschau Castle in North Rhine-Westphalia where the participants also stay in comfortable appartements is founded by Michael Chauvistré. The Aachen based filmmaker was celebrating this year the 12 edition of his widely kown industry event with 24 filmmakers from across Germany, Belgium, Switzerland and The Netherlands, and in cooperation with the Film Bureau NW.
Following the film screenings, there are 30 minutes discussions with the filmmakers taking place. Ideas are exchanged in an informal atmosphere with great food and drinks, organic bread and tasty apple and prunes cakes from an organic bakery in Aachen, while apples, grapes and prunes are from Chauvistré's own garden. All this away from the competitive environment of film festivals or industry gatherings, which often serve just for self-promotion.
This year, we are again using the Aukloster Monschau for the film screenings, discussions, and social gatherings with food and drinks. We will be setting up a cinema projection system that meets high standards in terms of picture and sound quality.
A pittoresque location, Monschau is a town in western Germany, near the Belgian border. It’s known for its medieval center, with half-timbered houses and narrow cobblestone streets. An opportunity for the participants to explore the beautiful landscape with trails traversing the nearby Eifel National Park or the The Red House, the only 1752 manor house of a wealthy cloth manufacturer.
