Quickfest.comPRESS RELEASE WINNERS ANNOUNCED FOR QUICKFEST 102 HORROR FEST Los Angeles, CA – Quickfest today announced the winners of the June 2009 Quickfest 102 Horror Fest. The winners were selected from the many excellent entries received by a jury which included: Directors Marc Forby and Bill Malone and Actress Nina Siemaszko. The Award for Quickfest Juror’s Prize for Best Film is Carlos Valle of Glendale California for ALICE IN WAIT. The judges also recognized CHECKOUT by Kevin L Watson and his DP Scott Jansson for Best Cinematography. Winning the Quickfest Festival Director’s Award is Lawrence and Savannah Morgan for their horror musical SOME KIND OF HORROR. Filmmakers were asked to create a short film included three of the four critical elements: (i) an ancient Talisman, (ii) a reference to a bizarre and/or grisly death, (iii) a character that speaks with a thick accent (or speech impediment), and (iv) a well known line from a classic horror movie. Filmmakers had ten days from this announcement to complete their film. “We are thrilled by the creativity and quality of the horror shorts submitted to Quickfest” said Greg Zekowski, Quickfest Festival Director, adding that “the filmmakers didn’t make it easy for the judges who struggled to pick one film as the winner”. All entries can be seen at the Quickfest website at www.quickfest.com, with the winning films also posted to Quickfest’s newYoutube channel at www.youtube.com/QuickfestTV Quickfest is excited about the responses to Quickfest 102 and will announce the next July event next week. “We plan on making each festival unique, giving filmmakers an opportunity to showcase their creativity in a variety of genres and styles” said Mark Cohen, Quickfest’s Managing Director.
