Wil Johnson will host the opening night of the 7th British Urban
Film Festival in October, the producers of BUFF 2012 have announced.
Johnson,
whose previous film and TV credits include “Waking the Dead”, “Waterloo Road”

GIRAF, or the
Giant Incandescent Resonating Animation Festival (est 2005), is an
annual animation festival that runs each November at the Plaza Theatre
in Calgary. GIRAF celebrates the spirit of independent,
underground, and experimental animation, showcasing Canadian animators
and presenting diverse animations from around the globe. We’ve showcased
the award winning independent work artists including Don Hertzfedlt,
Bruce Bickford, Brandon Bloomaert, Barry Doupe, Cordell Barker, Richard
Reeves, Chad Van Gaalan, Nick Fox-Geig, Amy Lockhart, Stu Hughes, Madi
Piller, and Cam Christiansen, among many others.

is committed to gaining greater awareness for animation as an art form.
Through 5 days of interactive activities: workshops, artist talks,
visiting artists, and animation screenings, our festival showcased over
80 animations in 2010 alone. We focus on presenting works that push
boundaries through the development of new techniques, hybrid forms of
creation, and challenging subject matter, and thus animation that is
rarely seen at other festivals.

The objectives of Filmmor Women’s Film Festival which starts every year in the second week of March in İstanbul and goes on in different cities with the demand and company of the other woman organizations are;
- To increase the visibility of women and their experiences, their success and productivity as well as their problems.
- To increase both the potential and areas for women to express themselves and women’s productivity in these ares.
- To expand the exchange of ideas and experiences among women both national and internationally.
- In cinema and all other dimensions of life, to contibute to eliminate the gender discriminations.
The festival includes some special parts for themes like ‘violence towards women’ and ‘honour’, the part of women’s cinema, cumulative presentations, conversations, panel and workshops.
There are no limitations or distinctions about the format, length or kind of the films in the festival, where only films made by women take part with a positive discrimination.

The Toronto Italian Film Festival was launched in 1999 and June 2008 will mark its tenth annual extravaganza of showcasing Italian films in Toronto.
The festival has created an atmosphere that allows different societies to know and understand each other through documentary films by utilizing the universal language of cinema.
