WHY call it the HOLLYWEED FILM FESTIVAL ?

Did you know that in 2017, after marijuana was legalized in California, an artist/prankster climbed up to the sign, at night, in the rain and altered the world famous sign from Hollywood to Hollyweed, thus causing an international news story and creating a psychological disruption for the business as usual residents of Los Angeles. We aim to disrupt business as usual with the Hollyweed Film Festival. You know the drill, submit your film, pay the fee and never hear back from whatever festiva...

KAKARAM (Life Force)

Director: Donia Mili.
I plunged myself---heart, body and soul---into the Amazon jungle I feared so much…I drank with the shamans as much of their sacred beverage,  ayahuasca, as I could get my hands on…. trying to reach my subconscious, trying to understand the Universe, trying to heal myself…DESPERATELY  trying to forget the corruption, the greed, the swarms of stinging, biting insects, the avalanches, and rattletrap, smoky buses. Not to mention the kidnapping. Kakaram combines  the stunning images of the rainforest with humorous animated sequences  and interviews with best-selling author John Perkins, internationally acclaimed painter and healer Pablo Amaringo, as well as a host of shamans, healers, derelicts and anyone else who would stand in front of the microphone. From the streets of Quito to the jungle trails of the Ecuadorian Amazon, the movie follows the film-maker in her quixotic quest to find  "untouched" indigenous communities.  Kakaram chronicles both her inner and outer journeys as her original vision and plans evolve in surprising and fascinating ways.

DARK FILM

Director: Craig Ford.
You would be forgiven for thinking that the shooting of Horror Bill was just like any other film shoot. Attention seeking actors, power mad Assistant directors, dodgy equipment. But when the actors start to die in a series of unusual ‘accidents’ we discover there are more sinister things going on here. Who is the Director? Why have only the Assistant Director and the deranged Production assistant met him? What’s really killing off the cast? Are they really accidents? How come the special effects look so good on this small budget horror? The answers to these questions all point to one sinister conclusion….One too terrible to mention here! All we can tell you is that Horror Bill is a very ‘Dark Film’!
