Colchester Film Festival is an international short film festival taking place at the Firstsite Gallery in Colchester from Friday 18th to Sunday 20th of October 2013
We will be showcasing some of the best short films from the UK and around the world as well as offering a programme of workshops, master classes and panel discussions from industry professionals for anyone wanting to learn more about filmmaking and the film industry.
Submissions for this years festival are FREE and now open along with registration for the 48 hour film challenge.
The 2012 Festival showcased 41 of the best short films from 13 different countries, from first time filmmakers to Oscar nominated short films. Alongside the films there were film related workshops, master classes and panel discussion from Luke Snellin (BAFTA Nominated Director of ‘Mixtape’), Julian Unthank (writer of the Oscar Nominated ‘Love at First Sight’), Steven Hall (Credits include: ‘War Horse’, ‘Gladiator’ and ‘Batman Begins), John Wrathall (writer of Good), Matthew McGuchan (Writer of Truth or Dare), Peter Findley (Production Designer: Nine), Toby Roberts, Will Wright and Emma Curtis.

While most of the techniques in evidence - dissolves, fades, double exposures etc - were in use within a few years of the birth of cinema, they are presented here in a context which highlights their potential within the digital era, serving the needs of an ever-expanding visual language.
Threads was edited within a single editing program. No additional plug-ins were used.
