After last year's success, the new edition of Go Short film festival is almost here. The second edition of this annual film festival will take place from 17 till 21 March 2010 in Nijmegen, The Netherlands. With over more than 900 films send in from all over Europe Go Short is tying the knots to finalize the competition program. The films for the out of competition program are set and special guests have been invited.
Short Focus
Short Focus takes a closer look at the British filmmaker Simon Ellis. Ellis will be a special guest at the festival and is present for q&a's and other activities during the festival. After last year's focus on the country Iceland, it is Romania's turn to be in the spotlights. Besides Romanian films, Romanian filmmakers like Negoescu are flying in to interact with the festival's audience. Also the Romanian cultural platform is opening their platform during the festival. In Short Invaders: A bright future or the end of everything? the best brand new and classic short science fiction films are shown and lectures are given by Anton Damen (International Film Festival Rotterdam, Fantastic Film Festival Amsterdam).
Go Short Student Campus
Same as last year, together with Breaking Ground, Go Short organizes a student campus for talented European film students. Over a period of five days film students attend the most interesting lectures, the greatest meetings with professionals, the most instructive workshops and the best and unforgettable parties. Students can still apply for the campus program via www.breakingground.eu/campus2010.
Online competition
New in 2010 will be the online competition. The deadline for entering films is 1 February. All European shorts under 10 minutes and produced in 2009 and 2010 are eligible for the Go Short Online Competition.
48 Hour Film Project
In March the world famous 48 Hour Film Project will be held two times in the Netherlands, first in Nijmegen from 12 till 14 March and one week later in Breda. In Nijmegen, Go Short will be the host of this hectic, busy, sleepless but above all inspiring weekend in which several teams work on making an entire short movie. Directors, writers, actors, cameracrew, light, producers and other enthusiastic film lovers are asked to unite in teams and enroll via www.48hourfilm.com/nijmegen.
This is only glimpse of what Go Short 2010 has to offer. The final program of Go Short 2010 will be released on 5 March.
