Lamb from Iceland directed and written by Vladimar JOHANNSSON competed for the Camera d ‘Or in "Un Certain Regard" headed by jury president Andrea Arnold, maker of the out of competition documentary Cow. Here’s to the inclusion of animals in films and Lamb is the best in this division with a mythical story of walking "Ram men" who impregnate domesticated sheep.
Noomi Rapace in an outstanding performance as Maria is married to a sheep herder Ingvar (Hilmir Snaer Gudnason) in Iceland. They have no children. One day a newborn lamb needs extra care and they take Ada home and raise him as their own. The gorgeous cinematography by Eli Arenson adds to this ambitious effort in Johansson’s first feature winning "Prize of Originality".
