In essence, the movie and gambling industries do not have much in common. When we say "not much", we don't mean "nothing". You can find fun and entertainment in both niches. But what would happen if you put them together? You'd get some sensational titles that have written a piece of Hollywood history with golden letters.
Most movie aficionados closely follow everything that has to do with the niche. They will thus name you the 78th Golden Globe Awards winners or the latest Oscar nominees right away. Could they equally name the highest-grossing Hollywood gambling movies of all time? Maybe, but for those who are not quite sure which titles belong there, here is our top-six list.
6 – The Sting
The movie released in December 1975 is the first on our list. The Sting truly achieved massive success reaching an impressive $159.6 million box office take with just $5.5 million production cost. If you have just learned about the NJ online casino opportunities, you will hardly know much about how gambling looked like almost 50 years ago. This is why we would suggest you watch this movie. It will teach you about numerous ways in which a person can show love for gambling.
5 – Maverick
Maverick is next up on our list. As much as $75 million were invested in the movie that was released in 1994 as the box office take of $183 million rates it high in the all-time gambling films lists. It is a Western comedy movie starring Mel Gibson who uses his con skills to try and enter a high-stakes poker game.
4 – Rain Man
Rain Man has conquered gambling aficionados thanks to some impressive scenes at the casino. An Oscar-winning piece was worth $25 million and it has achieved an amazing $354 million box office take. If you haven’t watched it, we’ll just say Tom Cruise and Dustin Hoffman play the main roles.
3 – Ocean’s Eleven
If you fancy watching casino heists, Ocean’s Eleven is literally a must. The film aims three largest and the most popular Las Vegas Casinos (Bellagio, Mirage, and MGM Grand). However, the heist faces bountiful twists and it will certainly keep you engaged for almost two hours. In terms of numbers, Ocean’s 11 made $450 million.
2 – The Hangover
While The Hangover is primarily considered to be a comedy, it certainly has several strong gambling scenes and we had to put it on this list. It takes second place with a $467.5 million box office take. It basically tells the story of four friends who have decided to visit Las Vegas for a bachelor party. Although you can make potential conclusions on what has happened there, none will be even close to what actually occurred in the movie.
1 – Casino Royale
The top spot is reserved for the most remarkable gambling movie ever (at least in our eyes). If we lie, the numbers don’t. This is the biggest Hollywood gambling movie ever with a $599 million box office take. Those who have, for whatever reason, not watched the film that tells the story of James Bond’s attempts to beat Le Chiffre (a financier of well-known terrorist organizations), should really consider doing so.
