Hot on the heels of the announcement of Penelope Anne Miller being cast as Nancy Reagan on the TODAY SHOW this morning, Voltage Pictures is launching international sales on Reagan, Sean McNamara’s upcoming biopic of former President Ronald Reagan starring Dennis Quaid in the title role, it was announced today by President and COO Jonathan Deckter. Voltage will begin talks on the hot title with buyers ahead of the upcoming American Film Market.
Production on the highly anticipated film wraps shortly in Oklahoma, with Jon Voight and Robert Davi also in the cast. Howard Klausner (Space Cowboys) penned the script. Producer is Rawhide Pictures’ Mark Joseph.
The story is said to look at Reagan’s life through the eyes of a KGB agent, a fictional character, as he tracks the actor-turned-SAG president-turned-California governor-turned-President from anti-Communist crusader in Hollywood to leader of the free world. Davi is playing Leonid Brezhnev, who ruled the Soviet Union through the 1960s and 1970s. Voight is playing the KGB agent.
“Having been fortunate to be involved in the largest scale independent films about American History, The Butler amongst others, it’s a great pleasure to be involved in a film about the Great Communicator,” said Deckter. “Mark has assembled an enormously talented cast with more cast announcements to come and we’re thrilled they’ve entrusted us with delivering this highly anticipated film to international audiences.”
“Jonathan and Voltage are highly respected in the industry and we look forward to working with such a great team,” added Joseph.
Reagan joins the robust Voltage sales slate including the action-thriller The Marksman starring Liam Neeson and the upcoming third and fourth installments of the After franchise, the first of which debuted number one at the box office in 17 international territories and grossed over $70m worldwide. The highly anticipated sequel, After We Collided, is currently the number one indie movie worldwide. The company are also experiencing great success with Will Wernick’s Follow Me, which has grossed over $2M in Germany, $1M in Benelux and $500k in Australia to date.
