Best Fiction Short Film for Ensemble which celebrates a third win after Cannes and IIDFF GREECE Ionian International Digital Film Festival
7.000 people participated in Amal during the official week.
After a week of projections at the Principal Theatre and the Hotel Eurostars Araguaney, in morning and afternoon sessions, we can say that the tenth edition of the Amal Festival has been a success. With 31 films in the official selection, 6 jury members, dozens of directors assisting as guests and registered press and 7.000 people assisting, the organization is satisfied with public participation, not only in projectons but in the parallel activities organised relating to music, gastronomy o Arab dance. Participation to which the large number or people participating in other Galician cities should be added, thanks to the film showcases programmed in museums in A Coruña, Lugo, Ourense and Vigo.
In Santiago de Compostela, Spain, the members of the jury of the X edition of the International Euroarab Film Festival Amal, formed by Ms. Sanâa Alaoui, President of the jury, Mr. Tahar Houchi, Ms. Maria Mera, Mr. Alfonso Pato, Mr. Khaled El Haggar and Mr. Jesús Núñez Villaverde, as well as Coralie Yap Chine, Festival Coordinator,a non-voting member of the jury, awarded the following prizes:
1. Best Fiction Feature Film: 5.000 € and trophy for “Rabat”, by Jim Taihuttu and Victor Ponten, Netherlands (2011)
2. Best Documentary Feature Film: 3.500 € and trophy for “Le thé ou l`electricite”, by Jerome le Maire, Belgium/Morocco (2012)
3. Best Fiction Short Film: 1.200 € and trophy for “Ensemble”, by Mohamed Fekrane, France (2011)
4. Best Documentary Short Film: 1.200 € and trophy for “Eid”, by the Saaheb Collective, Palestine (2011)
5. Best Director: 4.000 € and trophy for Jim Taihuttu and Victor Ponten, for “Rabat”, Netherlands (2011)
6. Best Actress: Trophy for Soufia Issami, for her role in “Sur la planche”, by Leila Kilani, Morocco/France (2011)
7. Best Actor: Trophy for Nasrdin Dchar, Achmed Akkabi and Marwan Kenzari for “Rabat”, Netherlands (2011)
8. Amal Express Prize, 500€ and trophy, for “The Game of Corruption” (“El juego de la corrupción”), by Ramón Herrera and Álvaro Menéndez
9. TVG Prize of 10.000 €, 3 runs of the film on the channel and trophy goes to fiction feature film “Sur la Planche” by Leila Kilani, Morocco/France (2011)
