The Montreal World Film Festival is proud to announce the inaugural China Film Business Week at this year's 36th edition, August 23 – September 3, 2012.
“The aim is to bring the burgeoning Chinese film industry on a permanent basis to North America,” explained MWFF president Serge Losique. “This is where the west will meet the east, where decision makers of the Chinese film industry will meet their western counterparts. All facets of the Chinese film industry will be in attendance in Montreal – co-production, distribution, acquisition, along with a wide range of representatives of Chinese television and related media.”
The China Business Film Week will be held within the scope of the International Film Market of the MWFF.
“Ever since its founding in 1977, the Montreal World Film Festival has been recognized as a pioneer in bringing Chinese films to the attention of western movie lovers,” explained Serge Losique. “Now China is opening its markets to western film and media and it is the appropriate time for us to reciprocate. The future of the world film
industry depends on a healthy exchange of product and ideas.”
Further details of this initiative will be announced later.
