The Festival will award Ghita Nørby with a Golden Swan Lifetime Achievement Award for her contribution to Danish film.
“I love watching films, everything from Lord of the Rings to Les Enfant du Paradis – and above all to watch them on the big screen in the cinema!” says Ghita Nørby. “I appreciate film’s ability to create fantastic worlds and intense emotions. I’m honored to take on this task. I really look forward to being a part of this year’s Copenhagen International Film Festival”

Since then she has starred in over 120 film and TV-productions in Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Germany, but has won as much acclaim for her work on stage. She was educated at the Danish National School of Acting in 1956 and has been connected with the Royal Theatre in Copenhagen ever since. Among her recent films have been Per Fly’s The Inheritance and Lars von Trier’s The Kingdom.
Festival Director Janne Giese says: “It is an obvious opportunity to celebrate one of the greatest Danish actresses ever, who has enthralled generation after generation with her great talent. Ghita Nørby is in a league of her own. Now that she is president of the jury and recipient of our award, we look forward to benefiting from her professional capacity as well as paying homage to her for her great contribution to European film.”
This year the festival pays special attention to Denmark as a significant film nation in Europe. It is pinpointed with the choice of Ghita Nørby as jury president and the world premiere of Lars von Trier The Boss of it all, which is to open the festival.
