EXPOSURES
11th Student Film Festival North West
30 Nov - 2 Dec 2004
exposures, the UK's leading student film festival, returns to Cornerhouse, Manchester for three days (30 Nov - 2 Dec) packed with screenings and events with some of the top names in the UK film and television industries. Now in its 11th year, exposures gives emerging North West talent the opportunity to showcase their work to the public and professionals whilst gaining an insight into how the film industry works. This year’s festival prizes reflect exposures’ ambition: not only will the Grand Jury Prize-winning film get a worldwide film distribution deal (courtesy of Brishorts), but the filmmaker will also have the unique opportunity of two weeks of paid work-placement with the internationally renowned Red Production Company - including the final week of shooting on the Russell T Davies period drama Casanova.
This year, exposures is proud to welcome a host of prestigious guests:
· Acclaimed British director Danny Boyle and screenwriter Franck Cottrell Boyce will be present for an exclusive preview screening of their latest film MILLIONS, which will be released in spring next year.
· Director, former Skids front man and journalist Richard Jobson (16 YEARS OF ALCOHOL) will hold this year’s Directing Masterclass;
· Award winning screenwriter Paul Abbott and script editor John Griffin who will discuss the winning formula behind the fantastic TV series Shameless in our Screenwriting Masterclass;

· Professional video directors Nick Fry (The Earlies) and Figfilm’s Mathew Norman (Elbow, Doves) will introduce exposures’ new Music Video category, show their own work and discuss the challenges of putting visuals to music before making way for exposures’ music video screening. For this new category, a dozen local bands - including Escape Pod, Tompaulin and Aidan Smith - have submitted forthcoming singles for students to make their official video;
· Director Yousaf Ali Khan and producer Mike Knowles will explain the process of turning a script into a short film using their experience on TALKING WITH ANGELS;

exposures is keen to encourage filmmaking talent from a young age and, to this end, is devoting a whole day to underexposed, its under-18 strand.
