PIX SESSIONS gather 25 promising film talents for networking, seminars, master classes and artist talks later this month in Copenhagen during CPH PIX.
European filmmakers of tomorrow
All attending filmmakers are invited personally by the film festival CPH PIX on the basis of previous work, current projects and recommendations by European film festivals, critics and fellow filmmakers. The 25 emerging talents will come from various backgrounds in short films, documentaries, visual and performance arts - they are scriptwriters, film directors, composers and photographers. They share a mutual devotion for filmmaking and have all directed at least one short film, but have yet to make their feature debut.
The filmmakers come from across the continent, from Iceland to Bulgaria, Spain to Sweden, Estonia to Greece covering in total 17 European countries.
Dynamic creativity as guiding principle
The featured master classes will all focus on directors who are known for their dynamic and creative collaborations as well as great European auteurs of contemporary cinema.
Fred Kelemen, Yorgos Lanthimos, Matthias Glasner are all filmmakers who will give master classes moderated by Danish filmmakers and Danish vetaran filmmaker Jørgen Leth will also be in attendance, moderated by TIFFs Steve Gravestock. Proficient Indian filmmaker Anurag Kashyap will speak about his take on how to get films done and to take charge.
CPH PIX focus on debut filmmakers
Every year the main competition at CPH PIX is dedicated to debut feature film directors.
'PIX SESSIONS confirms our devotion to emerging filmmakers and we naturally hope that we will see great films from these directors in the years to come', says festival director at CPH PIX Jacob Neiiendam.
PIX SESSIONS is made possible with the support of the Danish Film Institute on the occasion of this year's Danish EU Presidency. Amongst the partners for the project are the European Film College in Denmark and the Danish MEDIA Desk.
