The cinezoic era is not codified in any textbook. It does not exist but in the heads of dreamers. The Udine native Stefania Rota thought about molding it into the guise of a video named "Cinezoïque". It started out in December as a site-specific installation for Udine's Cinema Visionario and two months later landed on the Web (http://vimeo.com/37106377); in less than 24 hours, this video reached more than 10.000 views, launching Stefania Rota's name on the Internet, allowing her to move from promising young video artist to 2.0 art star. Even the most famous French film web-site, Allocine.fr, talked about her describing her work as "une superbe installation".
Cinezoïque - The Movie Time Line from Lait Noir on Vimeo.
Cinezoïque (read with a French pronunciation) is a video that is full of the sort of fascination only a few experiments with image are able to achieve. It is just a 3 minute editing, it is magnetic, composed by scenes from an indeterminate number of movies, where there is always the presence of a human character crossing the screen from left to right, who represents the hypothetical time line which the History of Film develops on. The cinezoic era, with its analogic and digital images that walk with us and cross our lives, is according to Stefania Rota a few minute stroll, a symbolic trip that sums up the History of Film, which starts from Méliés, meats Terry Gilliam, conq uers the black and white age, the color and the special digital effect ones.
Cinezoïque was created by Stefania Rota together with Diego Lorenzo Zanitti for a site-specific installation produced by Udine's Centro per le Arti Visive together with Centro Espressioni Cinematografiche and it was put on display in its headquarters, Udine's Visionario, a multiplex and Udine's cultural and artistic production key point. Now, living a second life that allowed it to leave the 21 m wall which trapped it for two months, Cinezoïque is surfing the net, contaminating web-sites and social media at every latitude. Its starting point was Vimeo, its finishing line the United States, Iran, Luxembourg, Sweden, Norway, Spain, Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Korea, Israel, Turkey, Austria, Bolivia, Ireland, Canada, Japan, Russia, Uzbekistan, Holland, Germany, England and France, where Allocine.fr, a film web-site, comparable to the Italian Mymovies.it, as above mentioned described this little big video art master-piece as astounding.
