The MIX competition rewards current projects as well as brings talented writers and filmmakers together to collaborate on the production of future projects. Participating in the competition also grants entrants a free premium listing in the Media Industry Xchange (MiX), a resource directory and collaborative forum for film and media related industries, which fosters the development and packaging of projects. The MIX accepts short film scripts and produced shorts of all genres and niches. Additionally, we place a special emphasis on pairing up talent that might not otherwise have access to one another, as well as highlight other unique categories that focus on using film as a powerful medium for social change. We are thrilled to announce a production partnership with Strive Academy for the Corporate Production Award, which is a free category to enter as long as you have entered a project into at least one other main category by the respective contest corporate deadlines for writers and directors (October 1, writers and Novermber 1, directors). See the 'contest and prize' page for further details. The MIX will be a catalyst for producing a new wave of forward thinking projects for 2012 that help transcend traditional creative norms, and we look forward to working with each of you in our inaugural year.
More than $10,000 in cash and prizes along with production opportunities. Further, outside of our main categories where we accept all genres and niches, three awards will be given to the most inspiring writer or filmmaker who best utilizes film as a medium to create awareness, social change, or bring a unique perspective to any one topic.
The screening events will be held at the historic Byrd Theatre, Feb 17-19, 2012.
