You're not going to believe this! Our vicious juries have ferociously announced the glorious results of their painstaking work and effort to select the best of the exquisite delicacies that Grossmann offered again this year for your eyes only! For God's sake, do keep reading! The Vicious Cat Jury of the Grossmann Film and Wine Festival in Ljutomer, Slovenia, consisting of Dinko Tucaković, Phillip Bergson and Christian Hallman, has chosen the Serbian splatter drama The Life and Death of a Porno Gang by Mladen Djordjević as the most lively and sharp-teethed cat of them all! Uwe Boll's ultra-delightful Rampage has earned a special mention of the Jury. Of all the roaring music documentaries, the Jury consisting of Igor Vidmar, Igor Bašin and Dragan Vuković was most impressed by the American portrait of the wicked ways of Norwegian black metal hordes entitled Until The Light Takes Us by the directors Aaron Aites and Audrey Ewell. The most promising and hard-hitting of the short films was Spanish horror Fearful John (Juan con miedo) by Daniel Romero as expertly voted by the Jury consisting of Sašo Podgoršek, Magnus Paulsson and Alin Ludu Dumbrava. The special mention of our grand Jury was earned by Croatian director Dario Lonjak for the blood-curling Day of the Dead and Zorgasm which in the opinion of the Jury represent the future of ex-Yu fantastic cinema.
Furmint 2009 from the Jeruzalem Ormož Vinery which is a part of the Puklavec & Friends company has been chosen as the most delightful and divine wine of this year's festival thus receiving the Vicious Cat Wine Champion award that was assigned to them with the blessing of our distinguished film guests. The special Grossman Comando Squad has also visited our Little Workshop of Horrors that once again turned out to bee chock full of great cinema. As hard as it may be, our Grand Commisioners had to make a rapid decision and they have chosen The Ballad by Matevž Jerman as the most impeccable item within the blood-spattered workshop. After that happened, all of the gathered monsters lost control of their feelers, tentacles, claws and other frightening features as the time was ripe for the moment when the legendary and the most unique master of the macabre Jose Mojica Marins received the very special award for his magnificent and most extraordinary contribution to the world fantastic cinema. Our lifetime achievement award was given to this cult auteur by the Slovenian minister of culture Majda Širca and the program director and the supervisor of the archive of the Yugoslav Cinematheque Dinko Tucaković.
Of course there was more silliness, weirdness and fun coming your way! Besides the second screening of Jose Mojica Marins' ultra-radical Embodiment of Evil and the mind-blowing A Serbian Film as well as the proud screening of the films made at our workshop our visitors had the chance to witness an immensely entertaining and hard-hitting gig by Croatian punk fun-lovers Hladno Pivo and the Slovenian rock gentlemen Dežurni krivci that courteously substituted Banane Metalik that had car-trouble along the way. The Cat himself gave his rightful blessing!
