From 2 to 5th of May, Russia’s Northern Capital hosts the St. Petersburg International Film Forum.
In the year of the 65th Anniversary of Victory, the public will be offered Russian and foreign films on the theme of war. In the year of the 65th Anniversary of Victory, the public will be offered Russian and foreign films on the theme of war. In all, around 100 films are slated to be screened, among them both classics and new, as yet unrecognized masterpieces of Russian and foreign filmmaking. Audiences will also see retrospectives of war films and selections of documentaries and animation on the subject of war.
Almost all the city centre cinemas – Dom Kino, Rodina, Khudozhestvenny, and Avrora – will be showing not only their regular scheduled programmes, but also holding free screenings. Looking at the cases of France, Germany, the United States and Russia, this scientific and political report explores the taboo subject of nuclear power, particularly the darkest aspects of the latter.
Nuclear power is not without risks, its Achilles heel being nuclear waste.People are afraid of it, scientists cannot find an acceptable solution to the problem, industry companies are trying to reassure us and politicians avoid talking about it altogether.
But what do we really know about nuclear waste ? How can people have a clear vision of something that has always been shrouded in secrecy ?
In seeking “the truth about waste”, this film aims to provide, for the very first time, the keys to understanding the choices which weigh heavily on the future of humanity.

At 65, Pierre MARTIN (played by Pierre RICHARD), quantum physicist, inherits an inn in Canada from his aunt. He leaves Paris with his daughter Catherine (Sylvie TESTUD), an ambitious fashion journalist, and ends up in the dead of winter in Sainte-Simone-du-Nord, a typical tiny village in the Saguenay, a remote region of Québec. Away from Parisian life, Pierre sees an opportunity to pass on to his daughter the quality he values most: happiness. The allegorical vision of life in this cute little village quickly turns into a nightmare for some. The mayor of Sainte-Simone (Rémy GIRARD) endured Jeanne the French aunt for over fifty years. It is now out of question that he will do the same with a second generation of frenchies.

As soon as he begins his first day of trainee as a mortician, Vincent, twenty years old young quit the job, overhelmed by the sophisticated techniques used on the dead bodies and overall by the strange methods of his boss. Getting out the funeral home with his pay of the day, Vincent cross an angel : Iris a young prostitute. After touching death, he’ll touch life… More than a sexual and emotional affair, the meeting is an immediate and reciprocal « coup de foudre »… To continue this paying lovestory, Vincent finally take his job back…

GUIDELINES
Entrants must be Russian nationals who are either:
Students studying film in Russia or abroad.
Film student graduates from 2006 onwards.
Young filmmakers (high school age)
Film School entrants (class or group produced films) from 2006 onwards
- Films entered can be from 2006 to 2009 graduation classes.
- Dead line for Film entry is September 27th 2009.
- Film entries can be either portfolio work – work in progress during a film course, a graduation film or other work.
- Open to all production techniques including animation – documentary – drama and experimental or artistic film.
- No film length restrictions.
- No theme restrictions.
- Films can be in either the Russian or English language. If the films are in Russian it is strongly recommended that English subtitles are provided.
- Multiple entries by schools will be allowed.
- Film entrants must first register on the website www.reelshowint.com .
- All films for entry must be uploaded onto the www.reelshowint.com website or mailed to the address provided. Film submissions forms must, in both cases, be filled out on line.
- Prize: Best Overall Film- US$500.00 and entry into The Reelshow All winners Festival 2009.
- An International panel of judges and Reelshow International members will decide the winner.

Mental hospital, special department. A solitary cell has become a temporary place of detention for the leader of an organization “Earth Liberation Front”. He’s extremely insane and dangerous. His organization is recognized as terrorist. Having fallen into his nightmare visions, he refused to communicate with the outer world. His fate was predetermined: life imprisonment or death by shooting. But the last straw was not even the murder of 6 hostages – famous people; he went much further, challenging the existing system.
Everyone left him. The only one who finds access to his sick mind and makes him talk is a young female doctor. But confession of the terrorist turns out to be much more terrific than the death of hostages, mental hospital cellars, and everything that an average mentality is used to. He made everyone see the war that constantly takes place all over the world, the war that were started by people against the nature, the war that an average person can’t even notice.
NYIIFVF is the only festival that focuses ONLY on independent films. This is the only festival that refunds entree fee if you are not accepted. You show your film in NY and LA.

SYNOPSIS
Jodhaa Akbar is the story of the greatest Mughal emperor that ruled
Hindustan, Jalaluddin Mohammad Akbar, and the fiery young Rajput princess, Jodhaa.
Set in the sixteenth century, the epic romance begins as a marriage of alliance between two cultures and religions, for political gain, with King Bharmal of Amer giving his daughter’s hand to Emperor Akbar. When Akbar accepts the marriage proposal, little does he know that in his efforts to strengthen his relations with the Rajputs, he would in turn be embarking on a new journey – the journey of true love.
From the battlefield where the young Jalaluddin was crowned, through the conquest that won him the title of Akbar the Great, to winning the love of the beautiful Jodhaa, Jodhaa Akbar traces the impressive graph of the mighty emperor and his romance with the defiant princess.
With Hrithik Roshan as Akbar and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as Jodhaa, the film is produced by Ronie Screwvala and Ashutosh Gowariker.
