Chicago
The Chicago Lesbian & Gay International Film Festival is the second
oldest gay and lesbian film festival in the world and prides itself on
showcasing the best LGBTQI films and videos from around the globe. From
international feature films to social issue documentaries to
experimental shorts, Reeling has always presented a range of genres
that demonstrates the rich diversity of work being produced.
Reeling 2009 will screen over 100 independent films and videos over 10
days, from November 5-14, 2009. Entries are eligible for audience
awards, as well as juried awards with cash prizes in the categories of
Best Feature Film, Best Documentary Feature, Best Narrative Short, Best
Documentary Short, and Best Experimental/Animated Film. Music Videos
are eligible for audience awards only. Reeling is also a nominating
festival for the Iris Prize.
Set in the southern suburbs of Chicago, The Bud Meyer Memorial Film festival allows professional and student short filmmakers to compete for prizes and recognition. Cash prizes for Best Narrative, Best Documentary, and Best Student Production.
International Short Film Competition
Awarded Categories: Integral Realization, Actor and Actress Performances, Screenplay, Direction, Photography, Art Direction and Edition.
The Jury will also grant the Special Prize to the Best Short Film.

Indiefest celebrates the “vision without compromise” spirit of the independent filmmaker. Indiefest brings the world’s film community to the city of Chicago.
Held in the scenic Chicago suburb of Lake Forest, the festival is calling for all independent film submissions. This is the second year for the professional festival hosted in Lake Forest.
HDFEST will bring filmmakers and technological innovators from all over the world together. This event will showcase the first feature films, shorts, documentaries, music videos, and tv shows shot in this new medium.
Founded in 2003, CIDF is a forum for the best documentaries from new and established talents from all over the world. The Chicago Doc Grand Prix carries a prize of $ 25,000 in cash. Overall awards total at over $100,000 in awards & prizes.
