Moving Stories

A short film about two women linked briefly by the apartment from which one is moving out after 40 years there, while the other is moving in after many and varied moved in her adult life.

Synopsis

Moving stories is about two women moving. Otherwise total strangers, they are linked through the apartment of which one is moving out the other in. One is leaving behind New York, her hometown for the past 40 years, and relocating back to Germany her country of origin, while the other is moving yet one more time along many moves from and into apartments in different cities, countries and even continents spanning Africa, Europe and North America. Neither of them realizes that it may be a traumatic experience regardless of how many times one moves or how far the shift extends.

Life truly imitates art in “Moving Stories” as Armani was profoundly inspired during the 18th move of her adult life and developed the unique concept of the film while she continued to pack and move from one NYC residence to another.

Packing, leaving, relocating. It is never easy. A new cycle, a new beginning, a new life…

Festival
Festival presentation:
RATED SR - Socially Relevant FIlm Festival New York is a festival and film lab that aims to satisfy a market need concentrating on everyday positive human stories. THE MISSION of the Festival is to spotlight filmmakers who are producing films that tackle the social and environmental issues of the day without relying on gratuitous effects, loud soundtracks and sensationalism to draw in an audience.

Rated SR aims to showcase socially relevant films of high artistic value that educate, enlighten, entertain but most of all can be commercially viable. Socially Relevant films can be funny, dramatic, romantic, adventurous, comical, suspenseful, intellectually challenging, historical, psychologically inclined, or tell a story that matters. In short, Rated SR films can be anything BUT boring!

Rated SR launches in Manhattan, the entertainment capital of the world where the films are screened, and has Filmmaker panels that run in parallel. The festival takes place in mid-March annually - March 14-20, 2014

Founded by Artistic Director Nora Armani, Rated SR is based in New York and has the festival screenings alongside a filmmakers' lab. The films that are shown are international and can come from any country in the world including but not limited to the USA. The screenings take place at the Quad Cinema in Greenwich Village in New York City.

The film festival coincides with the growing trends related to socially conscientious consumers who seek alternatives to films that deal with gratuitous violence and sensationalism to make a box office entry.
