We would like to thank all the filmmakers in the section for having transported us to different realities across the world. Three films in particular stand out.

We have decided to give a special mention to:

"LA VIDA ÚTIL", Federico Veiroj (Uruguay-Spain)for its humour and its way of poking fun at our own passion for film while at the same time displaying a great love for life. And also a special mention for:"SMUKKE MENNESKER/NOTHING’S ALL BAD", Mikkel Munch-Fals (Denmark) by Mikkel Munch-FalsWe are deeply impressed by this film’s skill in displaying the loneliness of its characters and the ability in time letting our sympathy for them grow into hope. And finally, and by majority, we have decided to give the KUTXA-NEW DIRECTORS AWARD to:KUTXA–NEW DIRECTORS AWARD"LOS COLORES DE LA MONTAÑA", Carlos César Arbeláez (Colombia-Panama)The film manages, through its deceptive simplicity and restrained use of cinematic devices to convey the fragility of human integrity amidst armed conflict.TCM-Audience AwardThe TCM-AUDIENCE AWARD at the 58th San Sebastian International Film Festival, carrying a cash prize of €70,000 in aid towards promotion of the winning film, goes to "BARNEY´S VERSION" by Richard J. Lewis, distributed in Spain by Universal Pictures International Spain, S.L.
