The halfway mark of the festival peaked for me last night with Tom DiCillo's slam-bang DOORS documentary "When You're strange", by far the best rocku-docu this writer has ever seen, but more on that in a moment. The day's opener was the morning press screening of Swedish director Lukas Moodyson's competition entry, "Mammoth", top lining hot Mexican star Gael Garcia Bernal (of Almodobar's "Mala Educacion"), American actress Michelle Williams (Brokeback Mountain) and featuring three terrific kids...

The L.A. Comedy Shorts Film Festival, currently the largest comedy film festival in the U.S., is a four-day, non-stop celebration of comedic short films with screenings, industry panels and a red-carpet awards event. LACS was recently named one of Moviemaker Magazine's “25 Festivals Worth the Entry Fee”.
Next edition runs April 7th to 108th, 2011.
Co-founded by Boston Legal's Gary Anthony Williams, L.A. Comedy Shorts attracts heavyweights from the world of comedy, including Will Ferrell and Judd Apatow’s 'FunnyOrDie.com’, a major sponsor in 2009. Adam Carolla hosted the star-studded red carpet awards, where actor/director Bobcat Goldthwait was honored with the first annual ‘Commie’ comedy achievement award and Mark Hamill presented for best comedy screenplay.
L.A. Beats Film Festival: 3 Days of Events and Networking with Awards for Best Feature films, Shorts and Doucumentaries. And a speceal Catagory for Films with a Muscal Theme of Hip Hop, Rock or R&B.
Festival is for indpt filmmakers to show their current works to the S. Cent. L.A. community. We will feature a panel discussing black images in the media. Festival to be attended by students at the USC School of Cinema/ TV and nearby community.
