The Hubert Bals Fund (HBF), Rotterdam’s fund designed to support films from the South, has announced financial contributions to 28 film projects in 18 countries for a total amount of 435,000 Euro. The Dutch documentary PROMISED PARADISE by Leonard Retel Helmrich is banned from the Jakarta International Film Festival. Saturday the film had its Asian première at the festival. Afterwards, the Censorship Commision asked the festival organisation to cancell all further screenings.
