$45,000 in Awards. Judges from Pixar, FOX, The Caucus & other Industry Leaders. Distribution opportunities.
Each Category has a Best Of Winner. All lengths accepted unless notated below. 3D: Content created with 3D technology or transferred to be screened in 3D, all lengths and genres. DCP format screened. NVidia is awarding a 3D Vision Kit & Asus Monitor. Animation: Including but not limited to Stop Motion, Claymation, Classic, etc. Apps: Apps can be created for the iPhone, iPad, Evo, Nokia's Ovi Store, Blackberry's App World, Palm's App Catalog, Google's Android Market, Microsoft?s Windows Marketplace for Mobile or tablets. Digital Comics: Digital Comics are accepted in digital format only (no physical books please). Winner of this category will be judged by a Marvel Graphics Novel published writer, viewed by an award winning production company for consideration to be made into an animation or live action feature. Documentary Feature: Any format including but not limited to 35mm, 16mm, 8mm, 2D, HD, 5D, 7D, SI Canon, Alexa, etc. LGBT Machinima: MachinmaExpo and The New Media Festival have joined forces to enhance both the MachinExpo in Second Life and the real-life New Media Film Festival in Los Angeles. This category, one of the judges will be Tony Dyson, R2D2's creator for Star Wars Mobile/Tablet: Audiovisual works created by your cell phone camera and/or tablet. This medium has become an area of interest for many distributors and other content aggregators. Music Video: In the very first year of New Media Film Festival a music video won our Shot On Red category. We'd like to Music Videos shot on any format to have an opportunity to win, on its own, among their peers., so, this category was created. SPONSORED BY Teletunez.com New Media: Since New Media is an ever evolving arena, we have this category for those of you that have created something that you feel does not fit into our other categories listed. Possibly 5d, 7d, SI, Interactive, Gaming. If your creative endeavors want an opportunity to be considered for distribution and our $45k in combined prizes and this is the category you feel best fits what you created, please submit here. We accept all TRT (total running times) from 30 seconds to 2 hours in this category New Media Scripts: All stories in text format. All Genres and lengths welcomed. If you write stories worth telling, this is the category for you. Whether it is short of long form, features, shorts, docs, reality, live, TV, pilots, animation, comedy, sitcom, drama, webseries, anything scripted, this is for you. WGA and Non WGA accepted. The script must be either registered with Federal Copyright Office or the WGA. Winner of this category receives V8 Final Draft Download. Shorts: Shorts are narrative or documentary works created on any format (digitally, HD, 16mm, Super8, etc.) with a duration under 30 minutes. Can include webisodes, commercials, pilots, narrative or documentary under 30 minutes. Shot on RED: All content shot on RED cameras. Sniplers - 30 second pitch: Sniplers - snippets of a trailer - are 30 second spots that are the stepping stones to get films funded, made, and seen in a longer format. SRC- Socially Responsible Content: This is for any type of film & media content that has a socially responsible message and would like to be considered for competition in this category. Including but not limited to PSA's, short industrials, journalism. STEAM-Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math: You may submit any genre, any length for this category. The subject matter must at some point touch on or involve one of the elements above. Winner of this category receives 2 tickets to SET Awards from EIC. Student: If you are a student, this is for you. All lengths, All genres accepted. Trailers Web Series: If you have multiple webisodes that pertain to the same theme or are part of a larger series, submit them as as a web series. Like individual webisodes, web series may be created on any media (digital, HD, 35mm, Super8, etc.) but they are intended for exclusive distribution on the Web. Content may include narrative, documentary, and experimental material in any genre.
Pilot: Pilots are created for all kinds of projects, not just TV
Submission/Entry Fee -
Each entry is considered for screening, competition ($45k in awards) and distribution opportunities. You may submit a link for us to view your content online. If accepted into the festival, DCP, h.264, .Mp4, DVD or Blu Ray are screening formats. Thanks.
Submission/Entry Process -
Up to 3 people review/screen your content based on story, production value, New Media. If 2-3 of the screeners approve of your content based on our criteria: story, production value, a snippet of new media, you are accepted in to the festival.
Judging Process -
If your content gets accepted into the festival, the New Media Film Festival team will choose the top 3 in each category. Those top 3 chosen in each category go before our judges to choose the category winners and the Grand Prize Winner. Each category has a best of winner, announce at the Awards Ceremony Closing Night.
