Father’s Day is not a title for a film reflecting on what most of us remember as a special day for dads. What we have is a dark revenge movie going off into the deep crevices, of Grindhouse movies with a the combination of 80s late-night TV and a perverted sense of humor which makes this film something truly unique.
If that is your flavor for film and you are a Troma fan,you will love this movie. How Astron-6 did this film on such a limited budget is mind-blowing.
After the cast stops hamming it up in the beginning it really takes on a spectacular turn.
Of course ,you must have a stomach for blood ,perverted sex , rape and brutality ,but you accept it as the movie pulls you in.Your thoughts would be,”What else can they do which I have never seen before and why am I watching this”.
A well written screenplay by the members of Astron-6, and the key stunts were memorably executed by the actual cast, co-ordinated by Adam Brooks. The talents of Brian Wiacek, Jeremy Gillespie, Sommer Spendlow, Paul Joyce, Bob Wiseman, Nabi, Dan Bern and Adrian Perry, along with many others comprised an excellent soundtrack. Steven Kostanski's horror effects and animation/blue screen work ranged from budgeted to vivid, at appropriate points.

The opening credits were an additional treat that should drop a huge hint for the show you were going to get. Illustrator Jim Rugg plunges you face-first into a wild ride, featuring his gritty designs in the opening title sequence. This film pays homage to director Dario Argento with a comic book feeling.

This is not something you let younger kids see, but naturally, they're going to make sure they see it once they hear about how cool it is. The violence, the language, and the gratuitous nudity are designed specifically to appeal to the twelve-year-old people of the world. You have to see it once just to get the big picture, then a second time to fully enjoy it.

The cast of the troubled teenager / underage male prostitute Twink (Conor Sweeney).,short-fused Detective Stegel (Brent Neale)a kind priest, Father John Sullivan (Matthew Kennedy),Fuchman (Mackenzie Murdock), a vile fiend with a taste for vintage dads, the one-eyed Ahab (Adam Brooks).and Ahab's Stripper sister Chelsea (Amy Groening)are very convincing in their character portrayals.
This winner of the 2011 Toronto After Dark Film Festival Audience Award opens at the Nuarte theatre in West Los Angeles at midnight on February 24.
