Red Sea International Film FestivalThe third edition of the Red Sea International Film Festival (RedSeaIFF) will run in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia from November 30 till December 9, 2023. The Red Sea International Film Festival brings the best in Arab and World Cinema to Jeddah Old Town. The Festival showcases exciting new films on the Saudi big-screen, alongside retrospective programs celebrating the masters of cinema, the latest Saudi films, and feature and short film competitions. There are also industry events and workshops nurturing the next generation of talent. In ‘Celebration of Women in Cinema’, the Red Sea International Film Festival (RedSeaIFF), hosted a gala event this evening at the 75th Cannes International Film Festival on the grounds of the magnificent Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Cap d’Antibes. Adrien Brody won the Academy Award and Cesar Award for Best Actor for his portrayal of real-life Holocaust survivor Wladislaw Szpilman in The Pianist, making him, to date, the youngest person to have received the Oscar in that category. His performance also earned him Best Actor honours from the National Society of Film Critics and the Boston Society of Film Critics, as well as nominations for Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild and BAFTA Awards.
Brody’s career has spanned many decades, he has portrayed a diverse array of leading roles and has worked with some of the industry’s finest directors and producers. Highlights include: Peter Jackson’s King Kong, Terrance Malick’s The Thin Red Line, Spike Lee’s Summer of Sam, Rian Johnson’s The Brothers Bloom, The Grand Budapest Hotel, and most recently, Wes Anderson’s Asteroid City, which marked Brody’s fifth collaboration with the auteur director and premiered at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival. Earlier this year, he guest-starred in Rian Johnson’s new crime-drama series Poker Face for Peacock, and John Trengove’s Manodrome, which premiered at the 2023 Berlin Film Festival. Currently he can be seen in the second season of HBO’s drama series, Winning Time: The Rise of The Lakers Dynasty, about the Los Angeles Lakers in the 1980s, in which he stars as legendary basketball coach Pat Riley. Previously, Adrien starred in Netflix’s Blonde, opposite Ana de Armas, he also had a pivotal role in the third season of HBO’s hit show Succession, for which he garnered a 2022 Emmy nomination for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series.
Adrien Brody’s production company, Fable House Films, recently produced and funded the feature film, Clean, which Brody co-wrote, scored and starred in. Brody also has a career as a painter and visual artist following the creative path of his mother, acclaimed photographer Sylvia Plachy. His first collection, Hotdogs, Hamburgers and Handguns, debuted at Art Basel in 2015; he premiered a new collection of works called Hooked at New York Art Week the following year and has numerous exhibitions. Brody’s paintings sell internationally to collectors and have raised millions for numerous charities through auctions and donations. Brody also regularly works in the fashion space with luxury brands and is currently designing a standalone travel collection for Swiss luxury brand, Bally, which will include ready-to-wear clothing, shoes, bags and other accessories.
