Golden Globes 2015 Stage a Good, Old-Fashioned, Hollywood Comeback

by Quendrith Johnson, Los Angeles Correspondent

It wasn’t too long ago that the words “Golden Globes” would raise the specter of litigation, corruption, and a whiff of foul play - but no more. For 2015, it looks like current President Theo Kingma has cleaned house over at the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA). Because everything that won for 2015 looks to be incredibly legitimate to the prevailing sentiment among film critics. Even the usual detractors, as well as wry observers, of the annual Hollywood Awards Season spectacle agree… the Golden Globe 2015 choices are spot on.

For those not familiar with post-WWII founded HFPA, and its Golden Globe Awards that are voted on each year by approximately 80, 90, maybe 100 journalists worldwide, here’s a refresher in their own words.

“The precursor of today’s Golden Globes was a luncheon held in December of 1947, at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, hosted by the newly formed Hollywood Foreign Correspondents Association. At the luncheon, Harry M. Warner, president of Warner Brothers, was presented with a plaque in recognition of his humanitarian work as the principal sponsor of the “Friendship Train,” which left Hollywood with food, clothing and medical supplies for the needy of Europe.”

Let’s hope HFPA stick to their mandate, bylaws, and play nice from now on.

And yes, Amazon is a Studio now, go figure... Netflix paved the way, ps.

As for the Winners and Nominees of the show, here’s a complete rundown.
