Dance Camera West’s virtual Fest dazzles now thru April on OVID.tv

by Quendrith Johnson, Los Angeles Correspondent

Recently someone said how many "steps" they took according to their FitBit or whatever, which reminds some of us how many hours we sit a bit. But never mind that, because Dance Camera West's Virtual Film Fest breaks out on Ovid TV today through April 30. This will move the needle on your fitness.

How can you sit still watching the dance speak through the vocabulary of movement from dancers worldwide? It's awesome, and full disclosure, it is a credit to a writer/colleague who is the co-founder, Canada's Kelly Hargraves. She is a friend of Screenmancer, and we are echoing their coverage here.

Ready, Steam it, Move...

Dance Camera West is about to change your mood and your movement now until April 30 through a partnership with festival sponsor OVID.TV. DCW 2021 can be seen right now, available for home viewing, joining the platform which hosts a fine collection of dance films.

For one month (March 31 - April 30) viewers can purchase 7 day viewing access to watch the 31 films screened at the January 2021 Festival in Los Angeles. Following the month long run, many of the films will remain available to OVID subscribers, with future revenue going to the filmmakers.

Change your moves, Change your mind....

Viewing is priced at $12 and is available for purchase at the link below

Get into the energy, vitality, and passion of dance in the context of cinema and the challenging times we are living in.

The DCW 2021 Festival collection features five programs of dance films ranging from group dances in remote natural landscapes, urban spaces and studios around the world, to introspective solos that invite you to share space with dancers sheltering at home. A must-see for all fans of dance, this stunning homage is a way to experience it from a cinematic perspective.

DCW virtual festivals are the fulfillment of a mission to create revenue for artists through live events and distribution.

Chosen from over 250 international entries, the 31 finalists each make their World, U.S. and/or LA Premiere. The virtual feestival also includes the bonus collection Body Buildings by Outstanding Achievement Award winner Henrique Pina (Portugal), whose films Beast and Dusk were screened at the January Drive-In. Other award-winning films include Outstanding Achievement winner Adi Halfin (Germany) Earth Odyssey and Lost Horse, The Best of the Fest Award winner Robbie Synge (Scotland) Forest Floor, Garry Stewart (Australia) The Circadian Cycle, and Best Screen Adaptation Award winner Hofesh Shechter (England) Clowns. There is also a collection of short documentaries.

Be Dazzled by Movement aka Dance

Who is DCW?
Since co-founded by current Executive/Artistic Director Kelly Hargraves in 2000, Dance Camera West has connected diverse cultures and environments through its exploration of dance on screen, bringing thousands of entertaining, challenging and provocative films to Los Angeles from around the globe, effectively bridging the gap between the uniquely influential Los Angeles film community and the significant local dance populace. Dance Camera West aims to foster groundbreaking talent and to encourage new work in the area of dance film by supporting creation, presentation and distribution of films. DCW presents an annual international festival held at renowned arts venues throughout Los Angeles, and informative and educational events throughout the year, to bring dance to the world beyond the stage and through the language of film.
