Y’A D’LA JOIE

at the BASTILLE DAY LOS
ANGELES FESTIVAL!

Celebrating its Tenth Anniversary

SUNDAY, JULY 17, 2011

ELYSIAN PARK -
Monticello Old Lodge

On Sunday, July 17, 2011 the Bastille Day Los Angeles Festival will
celebrate its tenth anniversary and pay tribute to French singer Charles Trénet
whose
best known songs include "Boum!", "La Mer",
"Que
reste-t-il de nos amours?
", "Ménilmontant" and "Douce
France". As homage to the
popular French singer and songwriter who passed away ten years ago, his song
"Y'a
d'la joie" will be used as the main theme of the event. It evokes 'joy'
through a series of disconnected images, including that of a subway car
shooting out of its tunnel into the air, the Eiffel Tower crossing the street
and a baker making excellent bread.

A Passions Productions event, the Bastille Day Los Angeles Festival
promotes the French heritage and culture, and celebrates the undying ties
between French and American citizens. In France, Bastille Day commemorates the
storming of the Bastille in 1789, marking the beginning of the French
revolution. In Los Angeles, the event is one of the most attended community
festivals and has been since its inception. The idea of great French food,
music, art, dance, people, and the summer’s sun all together for one day to
celebrate France’s Independence is a beautiful idea… and Angelenos agree, nine
years and growing. Throughout the day, they come to experience the sights,
sounds, and flavors of France right in their own backyard. They thrive on French
‘joie de vivre ‘, play the famous game of pétanque,
enjoy spectacular live entertainment, follow the waiters’ race, dance, or just
sit back and relax while having a French-style 'open air picnic'.

French organizations and city
officials have supported the Bastille Day Festival for the past nine years, and
encourage Angelenos to participate in the event since it helps foster a better
understanding among citizens of both French and American cultures.

The gorgeous Elysian Park -- Bastille Day Los Angeles
Festival venue -- is the city's oldest public park and is home to numerous
historic sites. It was once home to the Yang-Na Indian village and dates back
to Native American history.

The
10th Annual Bastille Day Los Angeles Festival will be held:

Sunday, July 17, 2011

Noon to 9 PM

Elysian Park - Monticello
Old Lodge (De Leo Politi)

Stadium Way at Scott Avenue

Los Angeles, CA 90012

The Event is FREE for kids. Adults: $5
