Morris Bates is a Canadian Aboriginal artist.  Hailing from the Shuswap Indian reservation in the province of British Coumbia, Canada, Bates rose to become one of the most successful Elvis impersonators in the entertainment industry, headlining in Las Vegas for all of ten years. 

Following his career as an entertainer, Bates moved back to Canada and took a position with the Vancouver Police Department as Aboriginal Liaison.  One of his programs was called "Reality Check" where he would take groups of at-risk Aboriginal youth on a tour of the mean streets of Vancouver's downtown east side and show them the grim realities of this environment should they ever choose to move there.
