17^th Annual Event to Unfold July 14-21

The American Academy Award®-winning filmmaker Steven Zaillian (Best Adapted Screenplay for Steven Spielberg’s “Schindler’s List) will chair the 17th edition of the Ischia Global Film & Music Fest taking place here from July 14-21 it was announced today by founder and producer of the event, Pascal Vicedomini.

The director-writer-producer is among Hollywood’s most prolific forces having received Oscar nominations for screenplays including “Awakenings,” “Gangs of New York,” and “Moneyball” as well as a Golden Globe, BAFTA and WGA Award for the aforementioned “Schindler’s List.” He recently completed the screenplay for Martin Scorsese’s “The Irishman.”

In making the announcement Vicedomini said: “We are pleased to welcome Steve Zaillian back to Ischia as this year’s chair following his past involvement in our Social forum as well as our symposia with up and coming filmmakers. He will be instrumental in helping create the feel of the 2019 Festival which has, over the past 16 years, gained a reputation for its celebration of big talents, its ability to identify industry priorities and its focus on human rights. Each year our Festival is dedicated to different filmmaking experiences and during the forthcoming Cannes Film Festival we will announce the program for this year’s edition.” 

Zaillian is about to employ his screenwriting and directing skills on the first episodes of the US TV series “The Talented Mr. Ripley,” based on Patricia Highsmith’s famous novels. The filmmaker also worked with HBO on the highly successful miniseries “The Night Of,” and he will soon begin collaboration with Amazon on an history-based series about the Spanish Conquistador Fernando Cortes, starring Javier Barden. 

Since 2003, the Ischia Global Film & Music Fest has been a center of attraction for luminaries from the worlds of cinema, audiovisual and music as well as an incredible showcase for young talents from throughout the globe. The event which takes place on the beautiful and renowned Green Island located in Gulf of Naples, is presented under the auspices of the Ischia International Arts Academy which is headed by Giancarlo Carriero, with Tony Renis, Mark Canton, Cheryl Boone Isaacs and Andrea Leone as Honorary Presidents and with the support of Mibac-Dg Cinema and Italy’s Campania Region.
