Wine tasting twany and white port was quite necessary to prepare for the steep walk up and busy program of the day; films all day and conference on ethics at 5pm.

There are several well-known names of today's programming. It marks the return of great filmmakers to Porto that only demonstrates the strong connection that with him, the festival has been creating over the years. It is curious that since the opening of the fantasy in which the Marrowbone director returns to Porto, after having won the Grand Prix of Short Film 10 years ago, the master of the competition appears at the opening of the competitive sections, so it is possible to call the director Karen Shaknazarov , with its sophisticated version of the classic Anna Karenina,
The Fantasporto program begins today at 2:00 p.m., at the Grand Auditorium of Rivoli, with a session of almost three hours that brings together all 15 films competing with the Official Section of Fantastic Short Films, which includes works by some filmmakers as well known as the American Jason Bognacki, the French Axel Courtière, the Irishman Cashell Horgan, or the Macedonian Milcho Manchevski, who is also presenting his recent film "Bikini Moon".
Also known actors and actresses are these short films, such as Catherine Deneuve. A program not to be missed. This is the last opportunity to see the selection of this year's short program.
"Involution", a German-Russian co-production by Russian director Pavel Khvaleev (who also previously presented Fantasporto in Antestreia Mundial his previous film, "III - The Ritual" ", Whose argument leads us to an uncontrolled Earth affected by a cruel mechanism that reverses human evolution (as described by Charles Darwin) by reverting humans to the condition of monkeys.
At the 9:30 pm session, also part of the Official Fantasy Section of Fantas-2018, "The Child Remains" by Canadian Michael Melski takes on the classic horror film theme of a couple who will be spending an end-of- - a romantic week in a secluded home that has a damn story that re-rises and haunts its guests. A work completed 15 days ago!
In the official section of the Week of Directors, it is highlighted in today's schedule, as it was said, the exhibition of "Bikini Moon", American production of the multi-award-winning Macedonian filmmaker Milcho Manchevski, namely the Fantasporto Career Award in 2016, winner of the Golden Lion of Venice in 1995 and holder of the UNESCO Prize. The plot of the film brings us a war veteran with mental problems who gets the attention of a news crew who wants to tell their story in an independent film.
The Small Auditorium program is devoted to the B-Movies Retrospective of Taiwan, opening with Wang Chu-Chin's "Never Too Late To Repent" (1979), followed by "The Challenge of the Lady Ninja" (1982). Lee Tso-Nam ending with Chang Tso-Chi's "Darkness and Light" (1999), films in which eroticism and action intersect in a very sophisticated way.

About Fantasporto

Dorminsky Mario

The Oporto International Film Festival, specializes in fantasy and science-fiction films in its Official Competitive section.
This Festival also includes the 18th New Directors Week with an Official Competition and a Retrospective section. The Festival’s director, Mário Dorminsky, is preparing, with the help of the Portuguese Film Institute, a program with Portuguese Films for the benefit of the foreign guests in Fantasporto.
The Festival runs now in 5 theatres (2,600 seats altogether ) and screens nearly new 200 feature films each year. The press coverage of the Festival is made by all the most important Portuguese newspapers, radio stations and television networks and by foreign specialized press. This allows press dossiers of about 5000 clippings every year and represents a unique media coverage in Portugal for similar cultural events.

Almost 110,000 entries, per year is the average of the Festival’s past editions.
