GOING TO FANTASPORTO IS ON THE HOUSE

Going to Fantasporto for free is a truly irresistible proposition. Having the opportunity to see the best cinema in the world, participate in the multitude of parallel activities and socialize with interested public free of charge is one of the ways the festival has found to overcome the financial difficulties of many potential viewers.

Thus, between February 21 and March 4, Fantasporto invites everyone to pay a visit to the Cinema Space, Floor 0 of the Rivoli Theater. There you will find selected programs with the best short films of the decade, created in collaboration with institutes of cinema from countries as diverse as Ireland, Hungary, Spain, France, Belgium and Greece, as well as the autonomous communities of Madrid, the Basque Country and Catalonia.

As the short film is often of the vehicle for discovering new talents, new techniques and original themes, Cinema Space with its programming is especially aimed for film students as well as the general public.
The sessions taking place from February 21 up to February 24, will pass between 10:00 and 18:30 (start time of the session). From February 25 until March 4, the sessions will go on from 09:00 till 13:00 (start time of the session), and the entrance to these sessions is through the side door of the Rivoli Theater from the Street Magalhães Lemos.

With the Sponsorship of the Ministry of Culture, via ICA and Municipality of Porto, of the European Union via the MEDIA Programme, of the Ministry of Economy via the Tourism of Portugal, with SuperBock as the main sponsor and also the support of ZON, the Fantasporto 2011 takes place between February 25 and March 6 in the Rivoli Municipal Theatre.

Fantasporto was considered a cultural initiative of high value by the Ministry of Culture, and received the Commendation of Cultural Merit by the Portuguese State as well as a Silver Medal by the Assembly of the Republic. This festival was honored also with two Gold Medals of Merit - by the Municipalities of Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia.
