The foundation lettera27 presents a fund of 25,000 euros to support African filmmakers

The foundation lettera27 presents a fund of 25,000 euros to support African filmmakers participating at the Industry Area of the African Film Festival of Cordoba

A Jury of experts will select the best script for production.

The Italian organization lettera27 , with the support of the Moleskine foundation has presented today, 14th of October, a fund of 25,000 euros for the realization of one project out of 11 African film projects, which were presented in the 4th Forum of Coproduction, Africa Produce. This initiative is a pilot experience, the fruit of a collaboration between the foundation lettera27 and the ONGD Al Tarab, organized for the African Film Festival of Cordoba, which is celebrated from the 13th to the 20th of October.

The Director's Eye fund will be allocated to the execution of one of the 11 feature length narrative and documentary scripts which have presented in the current festival edition. The jury responsible for the designation of this fund is formed by the Nigerian filmmaker Newton I. Aduaka and the South African producer Steven Markovitz, who will ultimately grant the aid of 25,000 euros. The selected project will be rewarded with both the economic endowment as well as offered help during all phases of its execution, through the search for sponsorship alongside crowd funding  and micro-sponsorship campaigns. Furthermore, the finished product of the coproduction will be projected in the African Film Festival of Cordoba.

The coordinator of the foundation lettera27, Tania Gianesin, has stated that "this project is the fruit of a great labor, it is  an adventure, as the principle condition for this development was to find a competent international partner, which we have already found." For her part, Mane cisneros, director of the festival has elaborated that "It is not only an economic endowment in that the author of the selected script will have the support of constant help and advice in all moments, from both the foundation lettera27, as well as the festival, ensuring the filmmakers will be accompanied from start to finish.

The African Film Festival of Cordoba is configured not only as a space for the presentation of films which have been shot, but also as a point of encounter and dialogue between filmmakers, the Spanish audience, and international producers, distributors, and funders with the objective of promoting coproduction. In the same way, from it's creation in 2009, the Forum of Coproduction, Africa Produces, has formed a portion of the FCAT Professional Space program, this year celebrating it's fourth year of operation. The objective of this space is to facilitate the approach between African filmmakers and European producers interested in working jointly.

The 9th African Film Festival of Cordoba

The latest edition of the African Film Festival of Cordoba-FCAT, which has strengthened as the annual point of reference in Europe for cinema of the African continent, kicked off yesterday in the Andalusian city of Cordoba, which through this competition reinforces its role as an "intercultural place, host, and encounter."

The festival, organized by the OGND Al Tarab with support from, among others, the City Hall of Cordoba, the board of Andalusia, and the Spanish Agency of International Cooperation for Development (AECID)- proposes a panoramic vision of the vast continent through the 94 films, seven official sections, a complete Professional Space, expositions, workshops, and activities open to all the public.
