SR Socially Relevant Film Festival New York is proud to be at the helm of two events coming up next month, and would like to invite you to join in to celebrate Diversity, Memory, Identity and Cinema.


SR Socially Relevant Film Festival  (#SRFF2021) presents two sidebar programs of films screening in-person and online in August.

  • Un-Broken: Memory and Identity in Lebanese Cinema (August 17-21) is organized by SRFF together with festival partner LAU, The Lebanese American University in New York. The series focuses on memory and identity in Lebanese cinema to mark the first anniversary of the terrible explosion that shook Beirut, and kicks off with an opening at the Lincoln Center's Elinor Bunin Munroe Film Center with two hits from Lebanese Cinema, Ziad Doueiri's Oscar-nominated The Insult and the New York Premiere screening of Oualid Mouaness' debut feature, 1982, with a Q&A, followed by a VIP wine reception courtesy of Storica Wines in the presence of participating filmmakers on August 17. A series of films streams online from August 18-21 inclusive.

Rejoice, Resist: Black Indigenous People of Color Films (August 29-September 2nd) is a film series celebrating Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) films and filmmakers, marking the BLM movement and advocating social justice for all oppressed people. It is organized by SR Socially Relevant Film Festival New York together with festival partners ImageNation and The Black Independent Filmmaker App, and is sponsored by Black Public Media, and the short-form video platform  Rizzle.  It highlights a FREE block party on August 29 in Harlem, and a panel and FREE in-person film screenings at Marcus Garvey Park on August 30. A series of films streams online from August
