Sarasota Opens with Dinner Rush

Sarasota
International Film Festival

January 10 - 14, 2001

The Sarasota Film Festival 2001 is set to kickoff on January 10,
2001 in Sarasota, Florida for five days of morning-to-night programs
celebrating the vision, excitement and spirit of one the world's
greatest art forms -- the motion picture.

Presented by Regal Cinemas, the fest is a non-competitive and features
over 100 films including screenings of features, shorts, animation
and documentaries, as well as family programming, archival films,
special presentations, informative filmmaking seminars, and the
elegant Filmmaker's Tribute Dinner.

With Regal Cinemas as the Festival's presenting sponsor, all screenings
and seminars take place at Regal Cinemas Hollywood 20 Theatres,
located in downtown Sarasota.

Executive Director, Jody Kielbasa notes: "We are excited about presenting
a slate of programs that we feel will challenge and inspire our
audiences. This year's event, which brought in nearly 300 submissions,
celebrates original voices in cinema and highlights the uniqueness
of independent film from America and around the world." Through
a series of Panels and Symposiums, attendees will gain a real insiders
look at the challenges and realities of working in the film community.

The Opening Night film will be Dinner Rush, directed by Bob
Giraldi, who is expected to attend the festival. Other highly anticipated
guests include Producer Patti Greany, Danny Aiello, Edoardo Ballerini,
John Corbett, Summer Phoenix and Kirk Aceveda are expected to attend
the Festival. The
festival will present a tribute to actor/writer/director Alan Alda.
