Opening NightLed at a brisk pace that left no room for ad libbing (but nevertheless held in three languages: Basque, Spanish and English), the ceremony presented the 48th festival in great detail and welcomed several personalities on stage. Klaus Eder, General Secretary of FIPRESCI, presented their Grand Prix to Magnolia from director Paul Thomas Anderson. A big round of applause was given to actress Carmen Maura and director Alex de la Iglesia, who hopped on stage to introduce the opening film of the festival, La Comunidad, a wild comedy of terror, full of emotion and suspense. I know that opening the festival is risky and we hope you ll enjoy it. 27.09.2000 | Editor's blog Cat. : |
