Highland Film Group announced today the company has locked distribution deals in key international territories in all media for the romance One True Loves, starring red hot Simu Liu, who currently stars in Marvel’s box-office smash Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. The film also stars Emmy and Tony-nominated Phillipa Soo (Hamilton) and Luke Bracey (Netflix’s Holidate) and is the film adaption of Taylor Jenkins Reid’s best-selling novel by the same name.

Directed by Andy Fickman (Paramount’s Playing With Fire, Disney’s The Game Plan) and written by Alex J. and Taylor Jenkins Reid, Highland Film Group has sold the rights to One True Loves to key international territories, including SquareOne Entertainment for all German-speaking territories, who are also executive producing alongside Highland Film Group.

Highland Film Group represented international rights at the Toronto International Film Festival with the company’s domestic distribution arm, The Avenue, acquiring domestic rights. One True Loves will begin filming on October 11, 2021 on location in North Carolina.

“We are thrilled to have our international partners come on board to distribute One True Loves, a beautiful and universal story of love and loss,” said Highland Film Group’s CEO Arianne Fraser. “Thanks to our distributors’ incredible marketing and distribution teams, the film will reach audiences around the world and show new sides of our multi-faceted talent who are known for international hits such as the Broadway’s Hamilton and Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,” added COO Delphine Perrier.

One True Loves is produced by Volition Media Partners’ Adam Beasley and Michael Jefferson (Saban’s Supercell, The Yacht), Willie Kutner (Netflix’s Sundown, Showtime’s “Rebel Highway”), Fickman (Disney’s You Again), Betsy Sullenger (Paramount Pictures’ The Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse) and Sarah Finn (Disney +’s “WandaVision”) who won the 2006 Academy Award for Best Picture for Crash. The film is executive produced by Taylor Jenkins Reid (Amazon Studios’ “Daisy Jones & The Six”), Alex J. Reid, Highland Film Group’s Delphine Perrier and Arianne Fraser and SquareOne Productions’ Al Munteanu.

High school sweethearts Emma (Soo) and Jesse (Bracey) venture away from their small town to build an exciting life together traveling the world. But when Jesse disappears in a helicopter crash over the Pacific Ocean on their one-year anniversary, a heartbroken Emma returns home to pick up the pieces of her life. After four years, Emma has found happiness once again, running her parents’ bookshop and newly engaged to her childhood best friend, Sam (Liu). But her life flips upside down when she receives a phone call that Jesse is alive! Her heart torn, she must choose between a life she thought was gone forever and one that’s just beginning.
