FEST 2021 sets October dates and maintains its professional program in Espinho

FEST - New Directors, New Films Festival takes place this year between the 4th and the 11th of October in Espinho, Portugal. This 17th edition will maintain its entire film program in Espinho's theaters and will work to reinforce its family program, as well as the meeting points and connections with the local community, in a continuation of the work initiated in previous editions.

The professional dimension of FEST, one of the main differentiating elements, will return this year in its face-to-face format, in what will represent a conscious compromise between the necessary public health measures and the preservation of the event's identity: the creation of a close proximity that can enhance the exchange of ideas and contacts between professionals from different cinema spectra. Composed by the Training Ground masterclasses, conferences and lectures, the meeting spaces between professionals (Industry Meetings) and the Pitching Forum (a training and funding forum for new projects), Fest Pro will also be held, partially, online, in a hybrid format that will allow the transmission of some of the initiatives to a wider and transnational audience.

For its cinema program, FEST will maintain its entire competitive skeleton (International Short and Feature Films Competition, National Grand Prix, NEXXT and FESTinha), as well as its essential focus on the works of emerging filmmakers. The thematic programs, Be Kind Rewind and Flavors of the World, and the desire to take the competitive program simultaneously to other Portuguese cities, similar to what happened last year with Porto and Lisbon, will also be maintained.

More details on the schedule will be released in the coming months.
