Century City Fest: this new fest in the circuit wants your best...

CENTURY CITY LAUNCHES INAUGURAL FILM FESTIVAL WITH ED WOOD AWARD

The 1st Annual Century City Film Festival (CCFF) “wants your best... and all the rest!” Film submissions are officially being accepted for the fall fest slated for October 27-30, 2004.

Cult favorite writer/director Ed Wood will also be honored. A special award named after Wood will be given to the top filmmaker under the “Non-Traditional” category. This category invites submissions from filmmakers that include “B-Movie,” “Campy, “Blaxploitation” and “Niche” market genres.

The competitive categories include: Traditional Features, Non-Traditional, Live-Action Shorts Documentaries and Screenplays with the top writer receiving the Carpet Tunnel Syndrome Award. The top submission from the “Traditional” Category will compete head-to-head against the top submission from the “Non-Traditional” category for the honor of being named, “Best of the Fest!”

Filmmakers are encouraged to submit work with the following guidelines in mind:

Format: Traditional/Non-Traditional feature films (31-150 minutes), Documentaries (any length), Live-Action-Shorts (3-30 minutes). Screeners must be on VHS or DVD (NTSC only).
Film prints must be available on 16mm, 35mm or Beta SP (NTSC).

Screenplays must be non-produced, from 90-130 pages, standard format.

In addition to screening a variety of films and hosting a screenplay competition, the festival will feature director commentaries, studio screenings and an awards presentation closing night.

The CCFF is founded by Patrice Williams, the CEO/Founder of the Minorities in Broadcasting Training Program; a non-profit 501(c)3 organization formed in 1993 to provide training opportunities to minority college graduates in television and radio news reporting, news management and film production. The fest is a fundraiser for the organization. Trainees from the program will be volunteering during the festival.
