Adelaide attendance doubled to 33,000

Adelaide Film Festival Director Katrina Sedgwick said, ‘With a film festival on every corner we are very pleased that in such a short time we have been able to program Adelaide’s differently and receive such a positive response in the press, from the film industry and the public alike.'

Audience attendances at screenings for the biennial 2005 Adelaide Film Festival rose by approximately 96% on those of the 2003 event.

The 2005 Adelaide Film Festival recorded total screening attendances of more than 33,000 across the thirteen-day program. A further 6,300 attendances were recorded across Festival’s exhibitions, lectures and free events.

In 2003 the Film Festival recorded total screening attendances of 17,000.

Look Both Ways by Sarah Watt was voted best feature film by the AFF ‘05 audience poll.

‘an imaginative, humorous and truthful contemplation of human reaction to the inexplicable. Juggling seven major characters and their criss-crossing paths, Aussie toonster Sarah Watt's live-action debut makes long-form ensemble drama look like a breeze. World preemed at the Adelaide fest Feb. 18, pic should see its uplifting universal language translate to extended fest exposure, glowing domestic B.O. and warm art house prospects offshore.’ Richard Kuiper Variety

Peace One Day by Jeremy Gilley, which received a standing ovation at its Adelaide screening, (also screened at the AFF regional program) took out best documentary film in the polls. As winner of Best Documentary Film, Kodak/ Digital Pictures awards the Peace One Day team a post-production package to the value of $1,500.00 and film stock to the value of $2,500.00.

The AFF is presented by Internode and proudly supported by the Government of South Australia through Arts SA, The Advertiser, ETSA Utilities, the Adelaide City Council and Network Ten.
