6th Edition of BABYLON EUROPE is underway with feature film development workshops

The 6th Edition of BABYLON EUROPE is underway with feature film development workshops in the UK, Austria and France.

Eight feature film projects from the UK took part in the London workshop (March 30th-April 1st), a further eight projects in the Diverse Geschichten workshop in the Steiermark (March 25th-28th).

Selected filmmakers from each workshop will meet in Cannes (May 18th-21st) to work together on their projects as part of a mentored programme that runs through till the BFI-London Film Festival in October.

Funded by the Skillset Film Skills Fund and Filmfonds Wien (Vienna Film Fund), BABYLON offers targeted, project-based training for teams of feature film Writers, Directors and Producers, focused on a combination of script development, production skills and market understanding.

BABYLON aims to build a successful and diverse pool of film storytelling and talent; to promote and strengthen cultural diversity within the independent film sector; and to provide an international platform for emerging filmmakers.

Recent graduates from the programme include Sally El Hosaini, whose impressive first feature My Brother the Devil was awarded this year at Sundance and Berlinale; Umut Dag, whose first feature Kuma kicked off the Panorama section of the Berlinale;  Verena S. Freytag (Burnout) and Veit Helmer (Baikonur) whose films were both selected for the LOLA section of the Berlinale.
