THE DISTANT BARKING OF DOGS by Simon Lereng Wilmont from Denmark wins this year's DOK.fest Award of the SOS-Kinderdörfer weltweit. The film potrays 10-year-old Oleg and his grandmother, who live in eastern Ukraine close to the front line. The films shows, what it means to grow up during war and by that, having to grow up quickly. “Rarely there has been a story about a grandmother and her grandchild told so poetically”, the jury stated. “A majestic and deeply moving lovestory, that visualises everyday life of war children.”

PLEASE SEND ME A POSTCARD – the exhibition

Calender week 44 by Axel Claussen

For townspeople nature stopped being a counterpart a while ago, yet we are longing for its beauty. When we are on holidays, we send postcards with panoramic views or the shore. The postcard: a handy format combining functionaltity with purpose. This is where I've been, this is how it looked like.

Over one year, six metropolitans captured their environment with a camera. Every week they took a photo in the size of a postcard. Every week they sent these pictures to each other. The photographers are Jana Ulrich, Sven Ulrich and Stefan Kornatz from Berlin, Axel Claussen from Itzehoe and Jan Sebening and Daniel Sponsel from Munich.
