Docs on the SpotHOT SPOT FOR DOCS: Documentary Festivals Calling / Ones to watch / Docu Fests Highlights and Awards / Submit![]() Launching on Friday 13th - Sheffield Doc/Fest's Ghosts & Apparitions Film and Arts programmeFrom Friday 13th, we will present our fourth (and final!) programme from our 2020 festival: Ghosts & Apparitions.
Ghosts & Apparitions encompasses films and artworks, each part of Doc/Fest’s 2020 Official Selection, and all presented online: Friday 13 November until Thursday 26 November. Films of all lengths, artists’ video, audio and XR performances will all feature across the Ghosts & Apparitions Film programme and Arts programme (formerly Alternate Realities). The programmes combined involves 13 films and artworks, spanning 12 countries around the world, each experimenting with form, and expanding the boundaries of what documentary can be.
Filmmakers and artists include, among others: Oreet Ashery, an Israeli, Jarman Award-winning interdisciplinary artist based in the UK (and Sheffield Hallam University alumni); Sofia Bohdanowicz, an award-winning Canadian filmmaker; Paula Albuquerque, an experimental Portuguese filmmaker and scholar based in the Netherlands; Keiken, the UK & Germany-based collective will present a live interactive experience from a virtual world on Saturday 14 November.
