Fastnet Film FestivalThe Fastnet Film Festival now in its 12th year takes place annually over the last weekend in May. It is an 'up close and personal' festival. Filmmakers, directors, producers and invited guest speakers, all share the same space. Schull doesn’t have a Cinema, so we invite attendees to explore alternatives. Screenings, Q&As, Premieres, Workshops and Discussions are held in all sorts of weird and wonderful locations, throughout the village of Schull. “Distributed Cinema” is Schull’s very own dedicated server for short films. Anyone with a smartphone, laptop or tablet can access the submitted films through Wi-Fi, anywhere on Main Street during the festival. You can watch any of the past 11 years winning films, archived workshops and interviews 24 hours a day 365 days a year here in Schull. Our server is also used alongside HD media players, to screen films in a number of smaller venues throughout the locality. From a bookshop, Art Gallery, pubs and restaurants, The Long Island Cinema, village hall to our main Hotel venue. Many of the premises in town take on the identity of a cinema, decorating their premises accordingly. We endeavor to screen each and every film submitted to our competition. It is difficult for filmmakers to reach large audiences and have their work appreciated. Our workshops attempt to provide very high quality hands on experiences for filmmakers. We are also fortunate to live in the most beautiful place in the world. When the sun shines there is no better place to be at any time. The Festival Fringe Events At the Fringe, we provide high quality activities for families with children, from Tee-shirt Painting, Children’s Cinema, Storytelling, Drama workshops, children’s filmmaking workshops and much more for all ages Most of our children’s activities do not carry a cover charge. Please keep an eye on our website for updates. www.fastnetfilmfestival.com Or follow us on Facebook/fastnetfilmfestival ![]() Lenny Abrahamson to Screen ‘Frank’ in Schull at the 7th Corona Fastnet Film Festival in May and Host Q&A‘Frank’ Irish comedy-drama directed by Lenny Abrahamson, premiered at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival to rave reviews.
