Cia Edström to step down as Head of Industry at Göteborg Film Festival

CiaEdstrom.jpeglogo-i.png

This autumn, Cia Edström will step down from her position and take on a senior role with focus on the strategic development of TV Drama Vision, Göteborg Film Festival’s international conference and market with focus on Nordic drama series.

Since she started working at the festival ticket office in the 90’s, Cia Edström has been returning to Göteborg Film Festival in several positions. In 2005 she was appointed Head of Industry, and has since then been responsible for the industry activities at the festival. She has been in charge of developing the Nordic Film Market into the relevant international business platform and meeting place it is today, as well as launching the high profile TV Drama Vision conference and the Nostradamus project, a multiyear initiative documenting and analyzing industry changes, making projections for the future.

“It has been a truly inspiring and enriching professional journey over the years, which I am very grateful to have shared with my brilliant colleagues at the festival. I now look forward to deepening my focus on the world of drama series and open the door to new challenges”, says Cia Edström.

“Cia Edström has played a key role in the development of Göteborg Film Festival for several decades. Her work with Nordic Film Market and TV Drama Vision has made a strong contribution to Nordic film and TV drama's international reputation and distribution. Now, when she is leaving the role as Head of Industry, she leaves a market and an industry platform that is progressive and has high international relevance”, says Mirja Wester, CEO of Göteborg Film Festival.

The process of recruiting a successor will start shortly.

Pamfir in Directors' Fortnight in Cannes

Göteborg Film Festival proudly congratulates all Göteborg Film Fund recipients selected for Cannes. The Ukranian feature debut Pamfir, by Dmytro Sukholytkyy-Sobchuk, produced by Alexandra Kostina for Bosonfilm, together with Les Films D'Ici, Madants and Quijote, has been selected for the 54th edition of the Directors' Fortnight.

"This was the goal for the strong team behind Pamfir; even when Russia invaded Ukraine they were still set on finishing the film and getting it to Cannes. We are very happy to have been a small part of making this possible and are looking forward to celebrating them and our other Ukrainian partners in Cannes", says Camilla Larsson, Fund Manager, Göteborg Film Fund.

When Marché du Film in Cannes unveiled the lineup of its Ukraine in Focus program, no less than four of the participating producers were among the teams selected for support from Göteborg Film Fund 2021 – Denis Ivanov, Sashko Chubko, Darya Bassel and Natalia Libet. In the programme of L’Atelier we find the Göteborg Film Fund supported, Turkish Kurdish project Philax, by director Rûken Tekes.
