406 Days: It's About Time, looking at gender disparity

The Swedish Film Institute will launch its annual gender equality report, 406 Days, which looks at gender disparity in the development and production process. The report shows that the average female-led fiction feature spends over one year longer in development than projects led by male filmmakers.

The event will be introduced by Anette Novak, the new CEO of the Swedish Film Institute. Anna Hallberg, Minister for Foreign Trade and Nordic Affairs, will present will present her views on equality as a key to success. The report will be presented by Josefin Schröder, Head of Analytics at the Swedish Film Institute.

In 2014, the Swedish Film Institute was the first public film financing body to achieve gender parity in public film funding. With the minister for Culture and Democracy from Sweden and the minister of Culture from France, the Swedish Film Institute organized a successful event in Cannes 2016, where the Swedish Film Institute launched "50/50 by 2020", which has had a wide-reaching impact on the global film industry.

This year's event will discuss post-pandemic priorities for creating equity and parity in film production, with an international panel sharing strategies and tools for creating safe work environments and increasing intersectional leadership in the film industry.

Panelists:

Dame Heather Rabbatts, DBE, Chair, TIME'S UP UK

Helene Granqvist, President, Women in Film and Television International

Helge Albers, CEO, MOIN Film Fund Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein

Josefin Schröder, Head of Analytics, the Swedish Film Institute

Moderator: Petra Kauraisa
