Each year, an internationally renowned director is chosen to be the programme's patron. He or she acts as a mentor, running several work sessions during the Festival de Cannes. The name of this year's patron will be announced on 28 March.
Since 2009, the Fabrique Cinéma by the Institut français has supported: · 101 selected projects, 185 directors and producers from 61 countries, including 23 French-speaking countries (39 % from Latin America, 24 % from Africa, 9 % from the Near and Middle East, 22 % from Asia and 6 % from Eastern Europe). In 2019, 11 Fabrique films are in post-production. They will be distributed in theatres and festivals in the coming months.
