Göteborg Film Festival wrapped up the 42nd edition

After eleven amazing festival days with a programme of 400 films from 83 countries, seminars, talks, parties and a great industry programme, the 42nd edition of Göteborg Film Festival closed. With a record high industry attendees and a festival audience of 130,000 visits we look back at some of the highlights from the largest film festival in the Nordics.

Queen of Hearts

Full list of Dragon Awards winners 2019

Queen of Hearts, directed by May el-Toukhy, won the Dragon Award Best Nordic Film. The prize of SEK 1 000 000 makes it the world's largest film award.

Lucky One Winner of Audentia Award

The Audentia Award, went to Lucky One by Mia Engberg. The Award, instigated by Eurimages, is handed out to a female film maker in the festival programme.

Nordic Honorary Dragon Award: Mads Mikkelsen

This year's recipient of the Nordic Honorary Dragon Award went to Mads Mikkelsen. The Danish actor visited the festival to receive his award at a prize ceremony taking place after a screening of Thomas Vinterberg's The Hunt.

The 2019 Nostradamus Report – ”Relevance in a New Reality” is here!

This year’s report discusses the uncertain future of public funding, major movements on the streaming market, the role of cinema in the new value chain, potential paths forward for VR, and the need for a rebooted industry conversation around tech and shared challenges. Johanna Koljonen's presentation of the 6th report on February 1 was followed by a discussion with Tomas Eskilsson, Head of Strategy, Film i Väst; Maria Tanjala, Co-Founder, Big Couch and Film Chain; and Glenn O’Farrell, CEO, GroupeMédia TFO.
